Option # 1 Tour of Point Pleasant Park Our easiest trip - straight out of Pier 21 at the Port of Halifax this tour winds through the historic South End and into Point Pleasant Park. Once inside the park we ride on traffic free carriage roads and make frequent stops to learn about the fascinating history of the park and the city itself. Beyond the park gates we ride through the grounds of St. Mary's University as we wend our way pack to the ship. Option # 2 Bike Tour of the Salt Marsh Trail For a longer day trip the Cole Harbour - Salt Marsh Trail System is an ideal place for safe, scenic and easy cycling. Perfect for cruise ship guests in the Port of Halifax, Eastwind Cycle offers a fun and informative 4 hour shore excursion designed with the casual cyclist in mind. Biking time is 2-2.5 hours with time allowed for transfer from the ship and for exploring Fisherman's Cove at the end of the ride. The trail system is based on a former rail bed and so is very flat with an easily ridable, hard packed surface. The rail bed follows a causeway across a wildlife rich marsh with salt water on either side. The marsh is home to over ninety species of birds with frequent sitings of blue heron, osprey, ducks and geese. Along the way our group will stop at interpretive sites to learn about the natural and human history of this fascinating area. The starting point is Lawrencetown Beach, with its pounding waves, a favourite of local surfers. We end the ride at Fisherman's Cove which is a working fishing village complete with lobster boats, shops and some great fish and chip stands. Take some time to explore this wonderful place before transferring back to the cruise ship dock. |
