The Cabot Trail on Cape Breton is one of the greatest bike routes on earth, and we're not the only ones making this claim. Bicycling Magazine said just that, Conde Nast declared Cape Breton "Earth's most beautiful islands" and Lonely Planet called the island a must-see destination. Our journey begins with a couple of days pedalling around Lake Bras D’Or, aka the inland sea, before crossing the island to the open ocean. From here on we ride alongside crashing surf, up and over challenging climbs, through Cape Breton Highlands National Park and beyond to the northernmost tip of Nova Scotia.
Cape Breton is the home of Celtic culture, and throughout our journeys here we experience all sorts of culture, including an authentic ceilidh (kitchen party), a visit to the village of Iona where the Gaelic language lives on and a visit to Glenora, Nova Scotia’s renowned single malt whiskey distillery.
All our trips have a strong focus on local food, and Cape Breton is the place for seafood. We'll dine on halibut just out of the water at the Markland Coastal Resort, try traditional Acadian fare in the busy port of Cheticamp, and of course, have the freshest lobster possible in the gorgeous dining room at Keltic Lodge. We have never forgotten the incredibly good mackerel sandwich and chowder at Neils Harbour or shucking oysters right out of the water on Aspy Bay.
Come ride with us on the greatest bike routes on earth.
