Rolling country roads, historic inns and the freshest seafood imaginable. This Prince Edward Island journey is the ultimate cycling trip in Canada’s Maritime Provinces. Lanes branch off from the iconic Confederation Bike Trail, dropping down to white sand beaches and open ocean views from atop red clay cliffs. The island is low lying with the highest point at 400 feet, making for gentle grades and easy rides. We cover the province, but prefer the eastern area best because of its complete lack of traffic, shore hugging roads, the East Point lighthouse and the “singing sands."
PEI is a treasure for food-lovers. We'll dine at the the best spots on the island, like haute pub food in Charlottetown and fine-local cuisine at the Inn at Bay Fortune. But sometimes the best food is roadside casual, like feeds of PEI blue mussels or haddock sandwiches so fresh you can still taste the sea, Malpeque oysters straight from the net, and traditional lobster suppers in St. Anne.
This isle is so welcoming you feel like home everywhere you go, especially staying with our old friends at My Mother’s Country Inn or the unique Inns on Great George in historic Charlottetown. And of course, a visit to Anne of Green Gables is a must for any literature buffs.
It's like the island was built just for cyclists...this is playtime on Prince Edward Island.
